New Mitsubishi Pajero 2027 in the UAE: Price, Specs & When It Lands
The Pajero is back. For about four decades it was one of the most familiar SUVs on UAE roads and dunes. Mitsubishi pulled it from sale worldwide in 2021, and for five years the name only lived on in the Pajero Sport.
On 2 September 2026 Mitsubishi revealed an all-new Pajero: a ladder-frame, seven-seat 4×4 aimed at the Prado and the Land Cruiser. Here’s what we know so far, and what to do if you want a Pajero before it arrives.
Yes. Mitsubishi says the Middle East is part of the global rollout from its fiscal year 2027 (April 2027 onwards), and Al Habtoor Motors, the brand’s UAE distributor, is expected to bring it in during 2027.
No UAE price has been announced yet. For context, the Ford Everest starts at AED 157,395 and the Prado at AED 199,900, and Mitsubishi benchmarked the new Pajero against the Prado and Land Cruiser 300.

Start with the bones, because that’s what matters for anyone who drives on sand. The new Pajero sits on a ladder frame related to the latest Triton pickup, with double-wishbone front suspension, a live rear axle and coil springs all round. Mitsubishi tuned the suspension specifically for this car rather than lifting it straight from the truck.
It’s a big car. At 4,920 mm long and 1,925 mm wide it’s in Prado territory, and there are three rows with seven seats as standard. The second row slides through 150 mm and tumbles forward, so getting people into the back row isn’t a gymnastics exercise.
Long-time owners will spot one change straight away: the spare wheel has moved off the tailgate and under the car, which makes the boot easier to get into.

Mitsubishi hasn’t published towing figures for every market yet. Australian reports expect a 3,500 kg braked rating, which would put it level with the class leaders, but wait for the GCC spec sheet before you plan around it.
Nobody outside Mitsubishi can answer this yet. The last GCC Pajero ran petrol V6s, and most big SUVs sold here still do. The global launch car is diesel only, and Mitsubishi hasn’t said whether Middle East cars will get the same engine or something else.
A diesel with 480 Nm would be strong in the dunes and cheap to run on a long drive to Oman, but diesel SUVs have never been an easy sell to private buyers here, and resale follows demand. If Al Habtoor brings the diesel, expect it to appeal most to people who actually use the low range. If a petrol option turns up for the GCC, that’s the one to watch for resale. We’ll update this post when the regional spec is confirmed.
Sand is where a UAE 4×4 earns its keep, so it’s good to see a dedicated Sand mode among the seven drive modes. Super Select 4WD-II will be familiar to Pajero owners: you can run in 4H on tarmac without binding the drivetrain, lock the centre diff when the sand gets soft, and drop into low range (4LLc) for the steep stuff. Locking differentials add proper traction when a wheel lifts on a rocky wadi track.
Ground clearance is 230 mm and the approach angle is 30.4°, both strong numbers for a seven-seater. There’s also a 3D camera system with a view under the front of the car, useful when you’re cresting a dune and can’t see what’s on the other side of the bonnet.
The old Pajero was tough, not plush. This one tries to be both. Depending on trim you get twin 14.3-inch screens (12.3-inch on lower grades), three-zone climate control, ventilated seats, wireless charging and a 12-speaker Yamaha sound system. Ventilated seats alone will win over plenty of buyers in August.
Safety has caught up too: eight airbags, forward collision mitigation, lane assist, front cross-traffic alert and MI-PILOT, Mitsubishi’s highway driving assistant. Useful on a Friday run up the E11.
There’s no official UAE price yet, and anyone quoting you an exact figure right now is guessing. DriveArabia currently lists an estimated AED 150,000 starting price, but that’s a placeholder, not a Mitsubishi number.

Our read: given the size, the kit and the fact that Mitsubishi openly benchmarked the Prado, the new Pajero will sit well above the Montero Sport. Whether it lands closer to the Everest or the Prado will come down to which engine the GCC gets and how Al Habtoor positions the trims. Australia is expected to get four grades (GLX, GLS, Exceed and GSR), and a similar ladder here is likely. Prices change, so always check with the dealer once it’s announced.
The names trip up a lot of people. The Pajero Sport is the smaller, cheaper SUV based on the older Triton, and in the UAE it’s sold as the Montero Sport. It never went away. The Pajero is the bigger, more premium flagship, and that’s the one making a comeback.
Mitsubishi’s rollout goes Thailand first, then Japan and Australia before the end of its 2026 fiscal year, then about 100 more countries, including the Middle East, from fiscal 2027 onwards. For the UAE that points to sometime in 2027. It’s likely to be badged a 2027 model here, which is why people are already searching for “Pajero 2027”.

A brand-new Pajero arriving in showrooms could soften used prices of the old model a little. If you’re selling, sooner may be better than later. If you’re buying, a bit of patience could pay off.
There’s no single answer, so here’s where we’d point different buyers.
Sand mode, low range, locking differentials and 230 mm of clearance are the hardware you want off the tarmac. If the GCC car gets the 480 Nm diesel, it’ll be a strong dune car.
Seven seats as standard, a sliding and tumbling second row, three-zone climate and ventilated seats, which count for a lot in August.
At roughly AED 77,000 to 126,000 you get the facelifted final model, and with hundreds on the market, parts and mechanics who know it are easy to find.
Until Mitsubishi confirms which engine the Middle East gets, it’s hard to predict how the new car will hold its value here. Give it until the regional launch before you commit.
